| Research Interests: |
| Dr. Cahalan's lab is pursuing a single-cell approach to Immunology, using techniques that provide dynamic monitoring of functions in living T cells. Toward this goal, Dr. Cahalan states that his researchers are using the patch-clamp technique to monitor ion channel activity in single T cells; calcium imaging to determine the pattern of signaling evoked by stimulation of the T cell receptor; gene expression probes to visualize activation in single cells; and two-photon microscopy to see cells in intact lymphoid organs. |
